Welcome to Dr. Gabriel Langford's Lab!

I am a Professor of Marine and Aquatic Biology in the Biology Department at Florida Southern College (FSC) in Lakeland, Florida. My research focuses on the ecology and evolution of parasite life histories, and we study the ecology of fish, amphibians, and reptiles. The lab's research primarily occurs in and around aquatic or estuarine habitats, where my students and I get wet and muddy collecting a variety of organisms! Our parasitological research utilizes amphibians, reptiles, and fishes (we have increasingly focused on the numerous invasive species in Florida) as model systems to investigate issues of parasite community structure, host specificity, life cycle evolution, and biodiversity. Most of the research on free living organisms focuses on spatial ecology and conservation biology, such as our Hillsborough Bay Shark collaboration with Dr. Durland's lab at FSC. If you've caught one of our marked animals, then please see the "tags" header on this website.
