Welcome to Dr. Gabriel Langford's Lab!
I am an Associate Professor of Aquatic Biology in the Biology Department at Florida Southern College (FSC) in Lakeland, Florida. My research focuses on the ecology and evolution of parasite life histories, and I have an interest in amphibian and reptile conservation. The lab's research primarily occurs in and around aquatic habitats, where my students and I get wet and muddy collecting a variety of organisms! Our parasitological research utilizes amphibians, reptiles, and fishes (we have increasingly focused on the numerous invasive species in Florida) as model systems to investigate issues of parasite community structure, host specificity, life cycle evolution, and biodiversity. Most of the conservation research in the lab focuses on the population ecology of freshwater and estuarine turtles in central Florida.
